Secrets to Health and Weight loss you should know but don’t!

We caught up with Tony and got his views on struggles many Aussie women have with weight loss.  “I am constantly approached by people wanting a ‘magic bullet’ for weight loss and health.” Said Tony.

The most common mistake amongst many women trying to lose weight is that they restrict the amount of food they eat and skip meals in an effort to lose weight. They usually cut back carbohydrates severely and also avoid all fats, and finally they also do many hours of cardio and other gym exercises with the hope that they will burn off the fat.

  • Do you feel like no matter how many diets you go on, you lose some weight initially, but then you put it all back on?
  • Have you tried what feels like every dieting fad out there, but you only seem to get fatter after each ‘diet’?

The ‘secret’ to increase your metabolism and get results in any weight loss program is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. To give you an example, one lady came to me for help having dieted and lost some weight but was ‘stuck’.

Despite her best efforts to reduce food consumption and increase exercise, she could not lose any more weight. What I did is actually cut back her exercise regime from 3 – 4 hours a day down to no more than 50mins per day.

I also INCREASED the amount of food she ate, from 2 to 3 large meals a day up to 6 properly balanced snacks. She lost 10Kgs in 12 weeks!

So what is a balanced snack? There is great confusion as to what a balanced meal actually is. The KEY in every meal is to have a small portion of good quality protein, low GI carbohydrates, vegetables and good fats.

Let’s focus on Protein as this is a well known topic for Oxygen readers, and of most interest to any woman trying to loose weight, increase bodytone, speed up her metabolism and increase fitness.

The highest concentration of Protein in whole foods is in animal foods such as meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and low fat cheese.
